How to use Google Analytics to track your traffic and sales in magento

As all of you know, Google Analytics is a powerful and free Google services that helps the store owners/administrator to monitor their website’s traffic, bounce rate and conversion rate…

With Google Analytics, Magento provides two types of tracking:

    1. E-commerce Tracking: Lists transactions in your store include customers and products which they purchased.
    2. Page View Tracking: Lists the source from which your visitors linked to your store.

In order to have 2 types of tracking, you have to do follow steps:

Step 1: Creat a Google Analytics account number

You should go to http://www.google.com/analytics/sign_up.html to sign up a Google Account. And then you will get a Google Analytics Account Number. Copy it because you will use it for Magento configuration.

Step 2: Configure the Google Analytics tracking in your Magento store

Open Magento Admin Panel and go to System/Configuration/Sales/Google API

After that, you should expand your Google Analytics section, change value of Enable to Yes, paste your Google Analytics Account Number to the Account Number field and lick Save Config button.

Now, the Googe Analytics code is added to your website.
