Magento sitemap is one of the important and necessary component in Magento website. Being newbie, I'm sure that you have heard of it somewhere, but it is worth to speak in few words about its meaning here. A sitemap is a table of contents, in which each listed item links directly to its counterpart sections of your Magento site.  In other words, Magento sitemap is way for webmasters to inform search engines (Goole, Yahoo, Bing...) and users your Magento website structure for crawling. 
  • Login to your Magento  Admin Panel
  • Go to Catalog >> Google Sitemap 

How to create sitemaps in Magento

  • Click on "Add sitemap" button to add new site map

  • In the "Filename" field:  fill "sitemap.xml" to create a generic XML sitemap for your Magento store.
  • In the "Path" field: Fill "sitemap/" or "/" to provide the directory path to where you want Magento to generate the XML sitemap
