This mean you don’t want inventory control to be used  to manage this product in your catalog.

  1. Open the product edit mode.
  2. In the panel on the left under Advance Setting, Choose Advance Inventory.
  3. Set Manage Stock is “No”. If necessary, clear the Use config setting checkbox to make the field available.
  4. Enter the Minimum Qty Allowed in Shopping Cart, it is the minimum number of the product that can be purchased in a single order.
  5. Enter the Maximum Qty Allowed in Shopping Cart, it is the maximum number of the product that can be purchased in a single order.
  6. You can see the field “Enable Qty Increment”. Quantity Increment is the number of product must be purchased at the same time. For Example, if it set 5, the customer must purchase a quantity of 5, 10, 15 and so on. And this field determines that the product will be sold in Quantity Increment or not.

If you want to sell by Quantity increment, do the following thing.

  • Set the Enable Qty Increment to Yes
  • In the Qty Increments field, enter the number of products that must be purchased in an incremental step.
  1. When complete, tap Save.

This is the option if you want inventory management control to be used to manage the product in your catalog.

  1. Open the product edit mode.
  2. In the panel on the left under Advance Setting, Choose Advance Inventory.
  3. Set Manage Stock to “Yes”. If necessary, clear the Use config setting checkbox to make the field available. Then configure these following things:
  • Enter the Qty current in your stock.
  • Enter the Qty for item’s status to become out of stock. This field determines the stock level at which a product is considered to be out of stock.
  • Enter the Minimum Qty Allowed in Shopping Cart, it is the minimum number of the product that can be purchased in a single order.
  • Enter the Maximum Qty Allowed in Shopping Cart, it is the maximum number of the product that can be purchased in a single order.
  1. If the quantity is the decimal value, do the following things:
  • Set the Decimal Value to Yes
  • If the quantity purchased Can be Divided into Multiple Boxes for Shipping, select “Yes.”
  1. Set Backholders, you must remember that Backorders do not change the processing status of the order. Funds are still authorized or captured immediately when the order is placed, regardless of whether the product is in stock. Products are shipped as they become available. Choose one of the following:
  • No backholders: Does not accept backholders when product is out of stock
  • Allow Qty Below o: Accept backholders when the quantity falls below zero.
  • Allow Qty Below o and Notify Customer: Accept backholders when the quantity falls below zero. But notify customers that orders still can be placed.

Depend on one your product quantity in stock, choose the suitable option.

  1. In the Notify for Quantity Below field, enter the stock level that triggers a Quantity Below notification. At this level, notification that inventory has fallen below the threshold will be sent.
  2. To sell the product in quantity increment, do the same things in option 1.
  3. If the product is currently in stock, set Stock Availability to “In Stock.”. It means Product are available to be purchased and mean the opposite if you choose “Out of Stock”.
  4. When complete, like usual, tap Save.

That’s almost the configuration when you manage inventory in Magento 2. As you can see, with all the features above, the extension for Inventory Management may be not necessary anymore. You can control the inventory just with the default version of Magento 2.
