Order Fulfillment allows you to process the order since it is created untill it has been packed and delivered to customers by carriers. The process involves in 5 steps which can be navigated in 2 ways:
Step 1: Verify order
In this first step, sales staff should contact customers to double check all information before verifying orders. Your sales staff can confirm and edit shipping & billing address for customers. This step is optional so if it is not useful for your business, you can turn it off.
After being verified, the order will be moved to the step of “Prepare Fulfillment”. If orders cannot be verified, sales staff can hold the order.
Step 2: Prepare fulfillment
Orders that have been verified are automatically moved into "Prepare Fulfillment" step which allows you to separate orders into 2 groups based on inventory availability: The ones that have all items in stock (Request pick from warehouses) & The ones that lack some of the items (Back-order). Thus, you can know the priority of which orders can be fulfilled first.
Step 3: Pick items
In the Picking Items section, you can select multiple orders to print a picking list containing all items of these orders at once. Then, you or your staff can use this list to check and pick up corresponding items from the warehouses. To pick items in the orders, you can use barcode or just check it manually. After you click on “Mark as Picked”, the order is moved into the next step.
Step 4: Pack items
After you complete picking items, orders will be automatically moved into "Pack items" step. In this step, you or your staff can check details of the order and pack items for it. It is allowed to create multiple packages for an order.
Order Fulfillment for Magento 2 also allows you to take picture of the packages after they are created.
Step 5: Deliver packages
In this last step, all shipped orders will be shown here with details, including the shipping information and tracking number provided by carrier so you can check back at anytime you want.
